Ottawa –After consulting with the community and working with OC Transpo, Bay Ward Councillor Mark Taylor is pleased to announce the re- introduction of several bus trips per day in Queensway Terrace North.
A plan to return partial bus service to Queensway Terrace North has been in development since the former Route 154 was eliminated in September 2011. Since then, Councillor Taylor’s office, alongside OC Transpo, has worked hard to develop a proposal to offer responsible transit in the neighbourhood. Thanks to the active participation from the community, this plan will come into effect on June 23, 2014.
This cost-neutral project will offer two new bus routes: the route 154 running North/South to Lincoln Fields, and the route 155 which will run East/West to Bayshore Shopping Centre. By driving through the neighbourhood and avoiding Carling Avenue, the costs of route 154 will offset those of the 155. Each bus route will offer 6 trips per day in each direction, helping residents travel at peak times.
The feedback gathered at an open house, through an online survey, and in phone calls and emails indicated a strong community mandate in support of the return of bus service. While there were residents in opposition to returning service now, including the local Community Association, response from over 200 residents indicated strong favour for the proposed plan. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to participate and make your voice heard.
