Can someone vote for me?

Any voter who is not available to vote on October 27 or on any of the Advance Vote Days can appoint a proxy to cast a ballot on his or her behalf.

A "proxy" is an individual who is an eligible voter who will vote on another person’s behalf. In regards to family members, a proxy can vote for one or more members of his or her immediate family. Otherwise, a proxy can only represent one individual.

To appoint a proxy, the voter must complete the Appointment for Voting Proxy form. A proxy can be appointed during regular business hours, starting Friday, September 12 at 2 p.m. until Monday, October 27 (Voting Day) at 4:30 p.m.

The individual who has been chosen as the proxy must bring the completed form, along with proof of identification, for certification by City staff at the Elections Office, City Hall or any Client Service Centre during regular business hours. In addition, a voting proxy may be appointed between noon and 5 p.m. on Advance Vote Days.
